Crime and Punishment

Sick of all the criminal rights? Sick of all the luxury prison lives and the pussy footing around? Believe that criminals are in jail to be punished, not live the life of Riley with privileges that many on the outside can't afford?

Me too which is why I'm reproducing this email verbatim. Not sure where the original came from but it says pass it on and I'm more than happy to do that... Big Time!

The Pigeon Conundrum

Working on the basis that the bathroom would stay exactly as it was if left alone; OK, so the dust might accumulate but I wasn’t going to walk in there one morning to find mini toilets sprouting up all over the place, and the old tiles weren’t going to start throwing up patches of new tiles on the ceiling; but the garden, which was now revelling in an extremely wet year and going for glory, would soon resemble something from the jungles of South America...

Goodbye Eurovision Fiasco

The Eurovision Song Contest 2008 has just ended, or should I say - crash landed. It's never been cutting edge. It has produced a few good songs and it has produced a few good artistes, Abba being the most notable, but it's been going down hill ever since the organisers took it upon themselves to redraw the world map so that Israel and Tunisia suddenly became part of Europe.

The Two Faces of the Internet

The Internet can be a wonderful thing. I'm constantly amazed by the doors it opens all over the world. I regularly shop in the US without having to leave home. Ummmm perhaps I should keep that quiet in case Customs and Excise see it.

I talk to people all over the world and I now have very good friends that I'll probably never meet, but heck, you never know.

What a difference a day makes

Last year I wrote a piece for BADD and asked what exactly 'disabled' was. This year I'm even more confused. You see on February 4th this year I walked into my local hospital fully able and came out an hour later 'disabled'.

Good God! I hear you say, what on earth did they do? Can you sue?

2008 Blog against Disablism

May 1st each year is officially Blogging Against Disablism day.

Started 3 years ago by Diary of a Goldfish, each year it goes from strength to strength with people from all walks of life posting interesting articles about their view of living with some sort of illness or disability, caring for the same or just people who care.

When I posted my blog last year I was in the last group. Since Feb 4th this year I've suddenly been transported to the first group. It's been an interesting transformation.

If you'd like to join in on the day, go register your blog site with the Goldfish.

Sigh, here we go again

Yet another hosting problem hence the hugely interesting PHP code on the right instead of the usual links. I’m in the process of shifting the whole lot to a new host who hopefully doesn’t suddenly decide to completely bork their set-up. Normal service will be resumed…….

Narcissism and the modern game

I was reading through some back posts on other people's blogs and came across an item from November 2006 by Jack Pickard entitled Bigotry in the UK where he talks about those who seem to feel that they are so secure in their public idolatry that they can treat everyone else with disdain.

What got me motivated to write was Jack's mention of Mike Newell, the then boss of struggling Luton Town Football Club, and his sexist comments about female game officials. This is one of those examples where you can honestly say, "it's not like the old days", and be pretty sure you're not just looking back with rose coloured specs.

Decorating your site the W3C way

Yes, it's the newest thing in web design. All you have to do is nip over to the W3C site and find the page with all the W3C Valid badges.

Don't worry about the License agreement and terms of use:....... Just grab a few and then liberally slap them over your page. If your site happens to have the same colour scheme then so much the better but even if it doesn't, a few strategically placed icons can make all the difference.
