Killing two birds with one song

Posted May 9th, 2008 by Jaybee

Hello! It’s Friday! And just for those who think they’re going to have a peaceful, non-irritated weekend I wish to present you with a Bruce Lawson Earworm.

For web developers who insist on sticking annoying music on all their pages - see how you like it!

No, I haven’t provided a way to turn it off, in the same way that you don’t, so now you have to dive for the off button on your speakers.

For those who think it’s the best thing they’ve ever heard, here are the words in case you wish to sing along :-)

Lyrics for Leekspin

yaa tsi tsup ari dik ari dull an dik ari dill an dits tan dool
la dippyduppy dull la roop uttyroopy la goorigan gook aya gittygangool
arup cha cha adippydappydill la baritztandill lan den lan doe
a barik kata barip pari baribadeebadeebadee standen lan doe
ya baril las ten lan day a doe la babadeadevadevadevaduv ya vou
what is that little las day lan doe badakadagadaga doo doo day a doe

I hate, hate, HATE it when sites embed MIDI’s! Though maybe I should use the past tense because I can’t imagine anybody intentionally doing that sort of thing past 1993. Anyways, though I’m not one who thinks your spinning-of-the-wild-onion song is the BEST I’ve ever heard, I love it regardless!

You obviously don’t visit the right sites. On the web forum I moderate we’re trying to stop somebody from doing just that pretty much every day.

Argh, that never dies, does it! Its when you’re still wandering around dribbling at 3am with pupils dilated and a maniacal look on face still singing it. They probably use it’s prozac-effect for brainwashing the populous into submission in remote parts of China.

Oh bugger I’ve not hit “post comments” because I’ve been sitting here for the last 5 mins singing along. Uh oh, I’m starting to grin. No… noooo……!!!

You know you’re in trouble when you wake up first thing in the morning humming the darn thing.
    yaa tsi tsup ari dik……..

I’ve got headphones and everybody in the office is looking at me as I boogie away at my desk.

One of the advantages of home working is that you can avoid this sort of embarrassment.

    Cheers

Good Lord. Neil Oliver! You didn’t work at RBKC at any time did you?
