Head in the sand
I often wonder if I’m living on a different planet to other people, especially officials and those voted into power who seem to start off as normal human beings, agreeing with the majority, but as soon as they get the power they turn into something weird.
Two examples of this have got me wondering recently. The first and most obvious are the school shootings in the US. Four in the last week. What do the authorities say about this? “It happens”
What! It happens because of your appalling gun laws and you’re all too scared of, or in the pockets of, those with a vested interest in making vast sums of money, either from gun production and sales or from gun associated crime. It’s about time a grown up with some guts ran the US. You guys have the chance right now to start asking your candidates some very awkward questions.
The second amazing bit of head in the sand thinking is in the Bridgend area of Wales where 16 teenagers have committed suicide in the past 12 months. Most, if not all, of these kids knew each other, either in person or via Internet fora, some were even related. The Police however can see no reason to link any of the deaths. Come on! You are kidding me, right? Even Inspector Clouseau might notice that there was something a bit odd going on here.
It’s a bit like the old joke where a body was found that had been strangled, suffocated, stabbed 53 times in the back and the police announce it was suicide.
I’m thinking of starting a petition. Arnie for President and Auntie Ethel for Welsh Police Commissioner. Either would do a better job than the current encumbents.

Hmm. Except I can’t imagine Arnie would be against guns. Just look at Terminator (guns), Predator (guns), True Lies (guns), and Conan the Barbarian (okay, no guns, but a bloody great big sword).
But Auntie Ethel… well, that might be interesting…

Well if Auntie Ethel’s anything like as scary as Jaybee, I can see the crime rate in Wales plummeting…

The lunchtime news reports another 16 year old girl, also in the Bridgend area of Wales has been found hanged. That makes 17. Apparently the Police are going to be issuing a statement later today.
Philip Irwin writes in The Guardian
Whether there is some odd sort of suicide pact amongst teenagers in the area or whether it’s due to deprivation and hopelessness there is clearly a link and authorities should be looking into it with a view to sorting the problem out.
I just put Auntie Ethel on the bus.

Is this part of Wales being administered by the Deepcut army camp staff?
